What to Expect
Classes are an hour long with roughly 20 minutes of conditioning (body weight exercises and skill specific strength training), 20 minutes of instruction and 20 minutes of sparring. Instruction consists of demonstration and one on one practicing. You and a partner will attempt the techniques slowly to learn proper form while instructors move around the class to provide assistance and answer questions. Sparring is either light kickboxing or grappling (from standing or knees). You will be matched up with a similarly skilled opponent to try the techniques with a resisting partner.
Expect to push the limits of your endurance. Classes are meant to increase your ability to perform the skills and techniques that are taught while sparring gives you real world applications with a safe training partner.
Students are encouraged to be considerate especially with new students.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get hurt?
No, but you may be bruised and there will be physical contact. Nobody will come to class with the intent to hurt you. And instructors will ensure that overly violent behaviour is not tolerated.
Can girls train?
Yes! There are many female students and there is no reason why a female student could not do everything that the male students could do.
How does the belt system work?
CMA uses it’s own belt system. You start at white belt level and as you attend classes you will receive stripes (approximately 1 per month), then every six months if you have at least four stripes on your belt you will get to attend a belt test to earn the next level. Belt tests are more challenging as you get to higher ranks. The ranks are white, yellow, high yellow, orange, high orange, green, high green, blue, high blue, red, high red, brown, high brown and black. It would take about 8 years to achieve black belt rank with good attendance.
I have trained before, will I start at white belt?
No, you will receive a starting rank appropriate to you demonstrated knowledge and skill as assessed in the first few classes.
How much does it cost?
The first week is free! If you would like unlimited classes we charge monthly. Drop by for more information.
